New from SoCal

I'm new here (obviously). Been researching vehicles for 6-8 months from now where I'll be closer to making a decision. Currently down to a short list of a JKU or a Toyota Tacoma TRD. Need to test drive both, and I've never owned a Jeep or any other 4x4 vehicle before. Primary reasons I narrowed it down to those two are because the vehicle will need to be my daily driver for a short commute (about 10 miles round trip), and for jaunts to various desert spots for weekend shooting and as such will need to be off-road friendly.

In that case go for a Jeep with a hard top. That way you can take your guns with ya and not worry so much about someone breaking in. Anyhow good luck with your decision

Thanks for the advice. That is definitely a consideration, although either way I have to follow my state's arcane firearm transportation regulations (basically firearms must be transported unloaded, ammo stored separately, and must be housed within a lockable container).

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located? Might be you could hook up with a forum member and do a longer test drive than a quick around the block. Get an idea of what one is really like.
