New Girl

I am new to the forum, i have been searching the internet looking for someone to answer a question on my jeep, i just am looking out for myself not to get ripped off being a girl, with a dealership..I need to know if removing the soft top, if my hard top has to be taken off first, my dealership wants to charge me over $100 to do this, and i can not find any manual on how to remove the soft top, that is bolted to the inside of my sahara jeep 2010 that came with hard and soft top...any help is appreciated...lynn

4 T-10? Torx bolts on the roll bar where the soft-top mounts to and then remove the top and it comes right off, then you'll need to do some other stuff for the hard top which im not sure of. I can cover the softtop stuff, someone will chime in about the hardtop.

Welcome! It is fairly easy to take off the top, the first time always takes the longest. There should be clamps on the inside of the top by the top of the windshield. Sorry, I only had a TJ
Post up your question in the JK section, they will be able to help ya out

Welcome to the Forum

I'm a TJ owner myself, but I have read that yes, it is necessary to remove the hard top in order to remove the soft top. It is not difficult to remove, just heavy so you will need help.

Welcome

Do this: Find 2-3 really nice guys. Unscrew the 6 torx bolts that hold on the hard top after you remove the freedom panels.
Ask above mentioned nice guys to lift off and move the hard top to a flat location.
Unbolt the 4 torx screws that hold the soft top frame to the roll bar mounts. Ask one nice guy to lift it out and place it in a clean dry location for you. Put the bolts back in the mounts so you don't lose them.
Ask 2-3 nice guys to set the hard top back in place for you. Secure it with the 6 bolts you removed.

Buy a hoist and ask nice guys to install it for you so you won't be bugging them every spring and fall....

Buy nice guys pizza and beer when the hoist is installed.
