New guy. And soon to be new owner.

Whats up guys. My names Rick. In a few days im selling my firebird and for a while i was going to get another sports car but i got to thinking. I have 2 fieros i can use when ever i get that sudden urge to have a little fun on road, So i did some research and its safe to say I WANT A JEEP. My father swears his life by chrysler products and our 300m and sebring have never let us down so why should a jeep be any diffrent. My grandmother as a gift wants me in a newer safer car than my firebird so she is helping me get somthing nice and that ill like driving (its either i pick the car or my dads getting a cobalt and sticking me with it) The 2 jeeps im looking at are 1, An apex eddition with 26K on it. it has i think a 2 inch lift bigger wheels and tires upgraded bumpers. The only think i would add to it is a light bar and a winch.

The other one im looking at is an 06 rocky mountan eddition with 46K on it bone stock.

Im leaning towards the apex because its more appealing to me and i really like it.

My question to you guys is, How are wranglers for daily driving. I have drivin an I4 and an I6 and love them both. Id rather have an I6 because of my history with my last 4 cylinder fiero. but do they hold up and are they reliable?

Thanks in advance.

First, Welcome to the forum. My jeep is a DD and I love it. I have a BMW 5 that has basically been parked in the garage since the day I bought my Jeep. If it were me I would go with the stock 06. Being stock gives you the ability to build it the way you want it. On the Apex you never know what the po has done and if it was done correctly. You might be surprised by what a stock wrangler can do offroad. For a dd, the I-6 is the way to go. More highway power and it is very dependable. There is not a lot of difference in the gas mileage between the 2.

I have a friend on my fiero forum that has an I4 and an I6 and he said that to that theres not much of a diffrence between MPG. If anything he said the V6 was better on gas because it dosent have to work as hard. Im going to look at the both of them. The APEX seems like it was done right im going to have a mechanic look at it to make sure everything is ok on it but hell if not 2006 it is. Theres a few other ones im looking at but there at the top of my list. One thing though it has to be a manual. me and autos dont work to well together. but my mind is deffentley made up. wrangler it is

Howdy, Rick, welcome to WF.
My '99 Sahara is my daily driver. It's a 4L, I-6 with 4" lift and 33x10.5 BFG Mudders. I love driving it. You can't drive a wrangler like a sports car but it's a blast.

I agree about the stock wrangler. They are very capable vehicles, just the way they are.

I've bought my 2000 TJ 4.0L in 2008 with 80,000 miles on it. I've averaged 250-300 miles per week for the past 2+ years. I've gotten new tires and changed the radiator. It cranks up and drives every day, and will go anywhere on or off road I have ever asked of it. One of the best, most fun, and most reliable daily drivers I've ever owned.

Lol i already have a list prepared. I dont want to go with a lift just yet Because i would like to get a feel for driving it for a year and get used to it Like i said most of my driving experiance has been in a fiero or a firebird and i know driving a jeep like them will get you on you flipped over.

I was thinking of getting a nice lightbar accross the top of the windshield with some KC's, Running boards, Snorkle, bigger tires you know stuff to get it ready for some light off roading.

What you all think?
