Talking New guy and TJ owner from NY

Greetings all!! I finally made the switch from Japanese and German hatchbacks to good ol All American Jeep. Just bought a 97 Wrangler SE, has a 4 or 5" lift(guy I bought it from wasn't sure), 33x12.5 tires, and a 2 piece hard top. I already got the Quadratec book and let me tell you, it's like the Toys R Us Christmas book!!! I've already plotted out what I'm going to do with her. Future add ons include the Bestop Supertop NX soft top, front and rear bumpers, upgraded stereo system, 6" fender flares, etc. But I do need to get it running smoothly first, that's the most important thing rt now.

I do have a few questions. First, I'm on Long Island, was wondering if anyone know of a good Jeep mechanic or shop. My mechanic is an import guy,and while he knows the basics, lift kits and suspensions and other aftermarket things are a little out of his area of expertise. I also just put spacers on the front wheels bc of rubbing issues I was having. The rubbing issue is gone, but sometimes I feel the front end shimmying while I'm driving. I don't know if that's bc I only put the spacers on the front(i did order the back ones bc it doesn't look rt) or if it could be something else.

I thank you guys in advance for any help!! I'm happy to be a part of this community, I've been reading some threads and everyone seems amazing and more than willing to help where they can.

Welcome to the Forum

Anytime you make adjustments to the suspension, it is a good idea to have an alignment done. I would have the tires re-balanced as well.

I did get an alignment first thing when I got it inspected, but it makes sense to do it again bc of the spacers. I'll do it after I put the back ones on. Thanks!!!

License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.
