New guy in San Antonio, TX.

Hey guys, just joined the forum to do some research and figure out what to buy. My last Jeep was a 98 TJ, 4cyl, auto...I know, but it was the best that I could afford then. 14 years later, I'm in a better way and am considering a '12 Rubi unlimited. Big question...auto or manual trans? My old ride was a dog on the road, but I hear that the new V6 has much better power. This jeep will be 70% road/ 30% play. Thanks all.

Jeff

Welcome!

I can't attest to the 2012s, but my 2008 manual does fine on the SA roads.

You've asked a good question, one that's been going around for a while. Here's a small sample.

Manual or automatic?
automatic or standard?
Manual Vs. Auto trans

In the mean time . . . Welcome to the forum!

Auto or manual is up to you. I choose manual all the way. Welcome to the forum!

I've got a '12 manual. it's a sport (same engine as a rubi though) and it is a lot more powerful than my brothers tj. the tj was great in my opinion too though, just doesn't hurt to have the extra 85 horses.

good luck with your decision and welcome to wf

by the way, I was up in SA buying my sport on march 4th... better deals than austin that's for sure.
