new guy, new problems

howdy from texas. i live in katy texas and im 18. i have an '01 tj sport 5 speed. its all pretty much stock except for 30inch bfg at, black steel wheels, some ugly tube bumpers, and some sweet rock sliders and a cd player that doesnt play cd's. all of this is because of or done by the previous owner most of it i dont mind but some stuff is terrible like the fact that both rear control arms are snapped clean off from simple street driving and worse yet i havent gotten to off road in it (i had just gotten confident driving a stick) other problems i have are the wheels, when i bought it it had factory rims(not bad) but one was barely holding a bead so whe had to replace them all as 4 steel wheels were cheaper than one factory one (i dont mind, they look fine to me) i also need a new soft top. did yall have these problems when you bought your jeeps or is it just tough luck on my part? the thing that bugs me the most is where the auxillary are mounted, right in front of the tow hooks. even so i still love my jeep.

First, welcome.

Second, punctuation is your friend.

Third, No. My junk didn't have any of those problems.

Fourth, read the rules. Your first post here should be a quick jab at Scout.

You learn quickly!!!

Welcome to the forum.

I hope you found all this stuff before you bought it and reduced the price you paid for it accordingly.

Most of it is obviously from the fact that the PO didn't take very good care of his junk.

The control arms should be your top priority. Just work through the other stuff as you have the funds.

Order a FREE catalog from Quadratec.com and 4wd.com. Even if you don't order from them they are great for seeing what is available and to see what things cost. Then you can shop around on the intraweb or in other places to find what you need at the best price.

Welcome to WF I haven't had any of those problems either when i bought mine. I kinda think mine was a DD and also a garage queen. And will probably be mostly a garage queen for me too. I bought it so i have the ability to go somewhere when we have a snow storm. I hate the feeling that just because its storming out that i can't go somewhere.

The fog lights have a switch built into the left(?) lever on the steering column.

Welcome!

With your punctuation and Debruins spelling, this thread is going to turn into a train wreck. I wouldn't (woudl ont) drive around with broken control arms, you need to replace them. When you bought the Jeep, you should have gone over it. Now post some (osme) pics up.

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum! My first Jeep was an '01 SE 4 cylinder, 5 speed stick. I absolutely loved it. You'll find you'll really enjoy that stick when you go off-road. Like the others have said, get the control arms repaired pronto. Again, welcome!

Welcome to the forum. But as Mr. Cliffford stated, especially if you're from Texas, first post has to poke fun at Scout.
