Im new to the forum and i thought i would share a little more about myself. When I was 16 I bought my first jeep, it was a cherokee. I dont have any photos of it when it was stock, only pictures of it after I lifted it.
Sorry for the photo quality, they are all cellphone shots
I owned this jeep for about 3 years and it took me anywhere I wanted to go, I didnt do anything serious in it but it did the job when I was younger. I installed a 3" pro comp lift kit and some 33" bfg A/t, and some KC lights on the stock roof rack and that was about it. no lockers or bumpers but it looked pretty sharp for a 99 with 195,000 miles on it
I just sold that jeep about two months ago because I was ichin for a wrangler and some more technical 4x4. I got 3,200 bucks for it and it all went to a down payment for my 97 wrangler se.
This was taken the day that I got my wrangler. Notice the faded hard top and flares, the bent bumper, and thoughs flimsy step bars.
One of the first things I did was cut that bumper because it was bent and I got a way better approtch angle with it cut, and I also masked off the flares and gave them a fresh coat of matt black paint
Then I took off the nerf bars beacuse I didnt like the ground clerance that I lost and I just thought it looked better with them off.
Painted the head light bezel from chrome to matt black to match the flares.
This was my first time out with it in the dirt and it was awesome, I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time, this was at 4 peaks Az, and after that I took it across the highway and had some fun at sycamore creek.
the next day I went and bought a 2" BB and some 16" rock crawler rims for an extra set of 33's I had in my garage.
Lift is on but I had to wait for the rims to be shipped from LA to my local 4wheelparts store here in mesa. so I just rolled the 33 in front of the stock tire to get a picture of where I was gona be sittin, and it was cool
The next day I painted my hard top flat black to match the flares, headlight bezels, and the rims that were comin in. The day after that my rims came in and I took 2 trips to the shop down the street to get the tires mounted and balanced. 1 trip for the rims and the second trip there for the tires.
This was literaly as soon as I got the rims and tires on.
A few shots as it sits right now, I removed the stock tire carrier for now until I can get my rear bumper/tire carrier combo. This jeep can take me way more places then my cherokee could, even with open diffs.
my future plans include a rear 8.8 with 4.88 gears, 4.88 gears for the d30 up front, lock right lockers front and rear, smittybilt xrc stinger bumper, rear tire carrier, corner gaurds, tube fenders, and sliders
I realize smittybilt may not be the best brand to buy but at least I will be able to take a hit from a rock and not have to cringe and im a busser at a resteraunt so my funds are limited, but that will all change in december when I get my Arc and Mig certs at my community college and start my career, plus down the road in 4 or 5 years im going to get a buisness degree and try to start my own 4x4 shop in the valley.
so there it is, what do you think?
