New Jeep Chick

Alright, I hate this part. But if I don't do it, I won't ever do it... so, hmmmm...

I'm a self-defense instructor in SoCal, a professional potter, and a wannabe writer currently shopping out my first novel. I kickbox for fun and have had three concussions to go along with three knock outs in the past year and a half (I either need to get taller or stop fighting men)

I bought my first jeep last week after years looking, drooling, oogling, yerning. She's completely stock, brand new and clean right now (silver, black soft top).

I had planned for years to buy an old one and rebuid it (I know nothing but want to learn). But, I wondered onto the lot with money in my pocket and couldn't get away......

there, done.

Welcome aboard Chris. Always good to have another Jeep Chick in the mix. We've got some good ones on here already.

Congrats on the jeep. That first one is always the best feeling. I've gotta remember you and be nice because I hang out in SoCal a lot and don't want you to kick my ass.

Thanks guys (I call everyone that, regardless of chickdom), I'll probably lurk around a while, glean info. I'm still new to the whole thing so I'll hang at the edge of the pool before I jump in square.

Wow! A Jeep Chick that will put us in our place!

I like it....

I think my 14 year old Daughter wants to be you when she grows up.

How about a pic of you and your Jeep.

Hahaha, I spin clay into vessel (I make dirt into dishes). But teaching krav maga and karate is my day job. (my family thinks I like to beat up on men, but that's just not the case... sorta)

Thanks on the congrats, everyone is so nice, though I do see some birds flying. I don't have any pics of me in my jeep yet. I only have the obligatory jeep in the driveway shot that I used for the birth announcements

The flying birds are all in good fun. No one really gets irked at each other around here. (very much that is)

Now the gentleman remark may offend a few of us. Congratulations on the new baby Tiny Terror. I like the reference to the birth announcement. Have fun with your jeep and don't forget to wave.

The only reason I have heard about it is because Sam Fischer uses that fighting style in the Splinter Cell books. It seems interesting tho.

Wow, I missed all this while I was out playing (fighting, whatever)...

The wave thing, clear this up for me... you wave to others in jeeps, but does that include following them to the gas station? Because I was a touch creeped out by that. I thought I was going to... defend myself .

I've never followed anyone there, but if we were both getting gas, I have been known to give them one of our Jeep club's card. Maybe they were trying to be friendly: too friendly, huh?

When I bought my Jeep, the salesman explained the Jeep Wave.....kinda like what bikers do.....a friendly acknowledgment of something only a Jeep owner understands: It's a Jeep Thing!!!

About the Jeep Wave, it seems like people who dont drive Jeeps wave at me more when I am in my Jeep. For example when I am in my wifes car, hardly any waves from anyone. When I am in the Jeep everyone waves at me whether they are in a Jeep or not. I think the ones in regular cars are jealous that they dont have a JEEP!!! What do you think?

Wheeeeeeew. I haven't been here in forever so I thought maybe I should bring back my "look at me" thread. After all this time, I still haven't gathered the scratch to lift my baby. I've also ended my fighting career with a final concussion, so I'm currently looking for something new to entertain me. I've popped two tires on the trail but haven't gotten my first dent yet.

Thanks fellas. Glad to have stumbled back. I didn't have the pleasure of blowing out my knees, but this was my seventh concussion and the dizzy spells lasted way too long (are lasting too long). I never knew your brain could bleed whoops.

I'm in the market for a beater to rebuild, so since I know nadda about the mechanical inards of the beast, thought maybe I should get schooled a bit.

Wecome and Book Possibility

Welcome, Chris, to the Forum and i really enjoyed reading the recent "history." By the way, I am a published author and having early success with my book that was published this summer. It went national in July. I went through PublishAmerica. Get on their web site for more information. They are a traditional publisher who will read your book and make a decision as to whether they are willing to take it to print. They turn down about 90% of the submissions (but they actually read EVERY submission) but they are very open to giving new authors a chance. I was stunned to have been accepted (in only 4 days) and I think it might be a possibility for you to explore. If they select your book to go to print, it will cost you nothing. If you want more information, be in touch. Hope this helps you realize that part of your dream.
