New Jeep Time

Boy is this jeeping thing confusing. I am getting ready to buy my first Jeep. With so many option packages and things you can and can not do, i am concerned with making the wronge choice and buying the wronge model. With that being said, it would be great if you could help me with understanding the pros and cons of a few things.

Here is a little info on me. This Jeep will be my second car and hopefully used for off road trips, desert duty and camping. I do not have a family but will use it with a girlfriend when necassary. I have no problem spending the money on a new jeep if that is best as my budget is not an issue.

Now for the confusing part:

1) manual or Auto?
2) 2 door or 4 door?
3) Is the Rubicon the best option because of gearing and Dana's
4) trim level that is necassary for a good time?

there are so many options that i just do not know how to get the right info and not make a mistake in buying a jeep that will not last time.

All of your advise would be appreciated.
