New Jeeper from CT

Hey everyone, just bought an 88 Sahara about 2 weeks ago. It is my first Jeep and I'm pretty excited about it. This is also the first forum I've been on. However I've been having some issues with the Jeep and I'm trying to get it running right. Every time I go to start it I need to give it gas. Once it finally fires up I can't let my foot off the gas without it stalling out every time. I was wondering if anybody else has ever had this problem and knows what to do.

Welcome to the forum! Start with the simple things like fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap (and rotor) and go from there. There are a lot of helpful tips already on this forum if you do a search. My 95 ran a little rough and was a little sluggish at first, but I went through it and gave it a complete tune up and it runs great now.

Thanks man I still need to do the fuel filter but all the wires and plugs seem to be alright. It has to be a fuel issue that's the only thing I can think of.
