New Jeeper from PA

Hello all! I picked up an "09" 4 dr. X two weeks ago and love it!!!! Hard top, Red. I own a Harley as well and fing that the Jeep is an equal addiction and will get expensive with all of the goodies I can modify on it. I need to be sneaky about it so the wife dosn't catch on to my evilness. I need to find some local trails to attack in the south eastern part of the state (pa) without trashing it because it is my daily ride. I hope to get to know some of you through our our forums speak and absorb your knowledge of ownership. Happy to be abord. Thanks guy's. Ken

welcome to the forum. the pine barrens in nj is not too far from you. there is a jeep jamboree next weekend (may 7th-10th) if you have an extra $250 lying around you should come. if not then in the end of june a group of us will be heading down there for the weekend. you might also want to check out rausch creek offroad park in tremont, pa. we go up there often too.

Thanks for the hit. How does a "no lift" jeep fare at rausch creek? what are some of the necessities I should carry onboard for a day out on the trails? Don't want to get caught with my pants down you know.

stock jeeps fare just fine. we had a stock commander go with us once. there are trails for various types of skill levels. there are a lot of stock guys that go with us. i only have a 1.5" shackle lift on my cj. as far as what you should carry...full size spare tie, tow strap w/o hooks, camera for capturing those kodak moments, cb (not required but it is nice to have).

I really do want to get out and cut my teeth with my new jeep. Years ago I had a toyota SR5 and had alot of fun. The hardest thing is finding the time to do it. I need to get the tow strap and a few other things. I will keep an eye out for some trips, i'd like to join in sometime.
Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Welcome to the site Keneds.

I got my new '09 a little over a month ago and I'm lovin' it too. I also have a Harley Road King, so I know what you mean. It's a nice problem to have, deciding which toy to take out.

How long of a tow strap and why no hooks? (curious)

keneds, welcome. Nice color choice . I agree with you on trashing the daily ride, although even more so in my case since it's my wife's daily ride!

That ride in NJ seems pretty cool but would be about an 8 hour ride to get there. Ours is stock too, so was glad to see it should fair just fine.

A 25 foot tow strap is a good length; although sometimes the longer the better check out our videos from Rausch Creek the last time.

You dont want hooks because if the tow strap breaks the metal hooks can become an extremely dangerous and damaging projectile.

Yeah....I can see your point about the hooks. After I do my lift in a few weeks I'd like to venture out to Rausch creek to check it out. Sounds fun.

MOz, I'm sure you have plenty of nice places to off road up there. One day I need to get there. I only come up in the winter to ski and never got to check it out in the good weather. Nice jeep also. Ken

You will be fine...I am going this Saturday at Rausch Creek to run with the club I belong to. You get a free one run with the club and you don't have to join if you don't to so if you care to come PM
