New JK owner in NC

Pulling the trigger on a Willys edition in Granite Crystal today. I've been wanting a JK for a year, since I moved to NC - and today is the day. Goodbye pickup truck, hello JEEP!

I'm really looking forward to modifying and customizing this vehicle to my tastes. It's still going to be my primary 4-wheeled commuter, but it will see some trails in the beautiful mountains of Western NC. I'm looking forward to participating on this forum and have spent a lot of time already reading about modifications I have planned.

Rylandnc - I'm just outside Charlotte, towards the mountains! I usually spend my weekends riding my motorcycles up around the NC/SC/TN border, looking for fun mountain roads. I have a heavyweight adventure bike (Buell Ulysses) that I like to take down dirt roads and trails - so I'm hoping to find some new places to take the jeep as well. There's some beautiful roads in the Pisgah National Forest that I've ridden on the motorcycle. NC is a great place to live.

Welcome to the forum.

You're not too far from Uwharrie National Forrest. It's a good place to go and force some upgrades on that new Jeep.

Awesome! We'll have to get together on some of those rides. I'm a Buell fan also. Had a X1 Lightning that I loved. I'm bike-less now, but will be looking for some good Jeep'n spots.

I like bikes... maybe that's not the right word. I'm addicted to bikes. I have a 2003 Harley Fatboy, 2004 Buell Firebolt XB12R, 2002 Virago 250 (borrow/learner bike for friends, currently for sale), 2007 Buell Ulysses XB12X, and a 1977 Honda CB 750F Super Sport that I'm restoring. And I just sold off 2 X650's, and still have a 1978 CB 750 for parts. And I think there might be a mini-bike in the parts trailer somewhere, too. I'll probably start a panhead chopper build once I get the CB finished...

The biggest reason I had a truck was the ability to load a bike in the back, and head south when the NY winters kept me from riding. But since I moved to NC, I haven't had the need to trailer a bike - and if I do, I have a small trailer to haul a couple of them.
