Post New kid on the block, Open for tips

Hello,
I have recently purchased my first vehicle, '98 TJ Sport. I am looking to fill a long bucketlist for him and am looking for tips and advice on how to go about things. And please go easy on me as i do not have much knowledge on cars, i am female... doesn't seem to be the biggest trend but am very eager to learn as much as i can.

First i would like to know how to go about getting the right set of tires. The set that came with the vehicle are brand new but i am looking to go larger. 33's seem to be as large as i would go, i believe the ones that are current are 31in tall. But i am nervous if i go larger i will have to get my fenders flared or tube fenders, which i would not have a problem with, but them come the questions.... How do i do that? Would it be better to professionally have them installed or to do it myself? Are there better brands? Plastic like my stock fenders or should i go metal?

Then i would like to get a light bar. All the light bars i have seen on jeeps are those with hard tops, i have a soft top. Would this mess with the detaching and reattaching of the top?

I would appreciate any and all comments or tips... those are just my first two, technically three things on my forever filling list of wants for Sid.

Thank you all for making this jeep the only vehicle i have ever wanted to own...

Very proud owner of a Jeep named Sid.

Question 1

How attached are you to your paycheck?

It really does come down to what you can afford.
To go with brand new 33's, you are already looking at well over a grand in just rubber.
Now, you probably will need a lift so, another $500 right there.
new brake lines, driveshaft, and all the other goodies that goes along with it.

My suggestion would be to keep the 31's. Good tires and a good driver will get that jeep pretty much anywhere.

Because this is the newbie check-in area, you may not get the answers you are looking for. I suggest you check out this forum area and post your questions there, I think you'll get a better response.
