New member and future Wrangler owner

I have been reading a lot here since a few weeks and it's time for me to register to be able to ask question about my future purchase.

A bit of background : I'm a 38 years old guy living near Québec City and I currently own a 2012 Kia Sorento LX AWD. While my Sorento run great for me, there are some nagging things which made me regret the purchase : towing capacity limited to 1650 lbs due to the 4-cylinder (wish I got a V6) and the off-roading capabilities is a bit limited since it's not a true 4WD and the height isn't enough to avoid hitting small rocks and wooden lodges on the way to some lakes and hunting grounds.

I almost bought a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited but the seller steered me toward a Journey based on my needs and after expressing some reservation about fuel economy. In the end, I bought the Sorento but after 36,000 km of driving and compared with my friend which own a V6 Sorento, I noticed I only saved 0.5l\100km ! Along with the limited towing capacity since I planned to buy a small popup or hybrid travel trailer, I've decided to look at Wrangler again and be damned the fuel consumption. I also got interested in off-roading and a Wrangler is much more moddable than a Sorento, especially since it get a unibody chassis unlike previous générations.

I hope my future questions get answered to help me pick the right JKU :beer-drinking:

Welcome to the Forum! Good luck with your search. A Wrangler is more about versatility and less about fuel economy. Anything intended for towing is going to be a trade-off in that area.

I know about trade-offs. The only other way is a pickup but fuel economy is even worse since I also use it as my daily driver to work and back (about 30-40 miles everyday). That's the price to pay to get the most versatility out of the Wrangler.

Thanks everyone for the nice words.

I also forgot to add that a few years down the line after purchasing a JKU, I plan to mod it as a offroad only purpose when I get another one for daily driving. That's why I have my mind set on the Wrangler
