Talking New member & Jeep Owner...

Wont let me post photos... Have a white 05 limited, 6 sp & hard top... just doing install for HAM gear (KG6QNA) and annt. Get this, 1st tank in-town 18.66 and trip from Aurora to vail and back 311 miles used 15.11 gal. That's about 20.5 MPG. Thought that was great... Today, wife said ride was on the hard-side... I of course, said "Its a jeep thing" and she... only looked... I got the MSG. Well, checked tire press and guess what I found, 42 to 46 lbs (from dealer) (great MPG) Aired back down to 30 lbs, ride is better MPG is down???? Will keep it stock due to $$$$ factor. I will be checking out the Fourm.

Welcome aboard, and congrats on the new jeep purchase. Yeah, with a stock vehicle your MPG will be affected by air pressure. It shouldn't however be that much of a difference. It's been so long since my rig had stock tires on it that I don't even remember the recommended air pressure, but I would guess it is somewhere around 35, not 42 to 46.

And yeah, this board won't host your pics for you. You need to link them from another site like Photobucket or someplace that allows hot linking. Then just hit the button at the top of the post window that has the mountains and place the IMG tag address from your picture in there.

I once said “I will keep my Rubicon stock” too!

Well that's not what happened; if you do much wheeling you will do mods it's not possible to resist the dark side for vary long.

Try if you like…We’ll be here for you when you fall off the wagon.

Thanks for the info on the photos, I will see what I can do in that regard... On the fuel, took a trip today from Aurora up through Rocky Mount. Nat. Park. I took the Trail Ridge Road (12183') and stopped in Granby, CO for fuel 161 miles and 7.3 gal. = 22.05 MPG.. That'a better then my trooper got. And that's after airing-down tires????? Also hit my 1st heavy (wet) snow this year.

Thanks
Joe

Welcome, as for mods, do them when you can afford them, and above all else have fun!

Tell her that Jeeps are like women, if you leave them alone too long they start to get angry with your for not spending money on them.

MPG 05 limited 6 spd

Latest on MPG.. Just got back to Aurora, from a trip to Colorado. Springs. Avg. about 65 mph for trip. 140.3 miles.. Filled tank 5.523 gal = 25.4 MPG . 3.73 axle 30x9.5R15 tires.. 6spd. I just turned the miles-o-meter past the 1000 mile mark. After 1st oil change I will go synthetic Mobil 1? $&it, it can only get better however, I am sure after I put on som "BIG" rubber, the big MPH numbers will go south?
