Cool New member from Hawaii.....I have a question..

Aloha from Paradise!

Unfortunately not everything is "Paradise with my jeep right now..." I have a 2001 Wrangler Sahara (156,xxx miles) and have started having white smoke come out of the vents. What may be causing this?

Some of my research shows it could be condensation or gasket related. It has been VERY rainy here on Kauai, but it rains daily or nightly here. My AC has had a Freon leak for years - I have NOT run the AC in years so I don't think its an AC - condensation issue.

The smoke smells a little like coolant, I think. All my dashboard gauges are reading normal readings.

Can anyone give me advice related to this matter?

Thank You!!

Sounds to me like you may have a leak in your heater core.

Because this is the newbie check-in area, you may not get the answers you are looking for. I suggest you check out this forum area and post your questions there, I think you'll get a better response.

Could be a leak in the heater core. Do you see a reduction in oil pressure? It's definitely time to take it to a trusted mechanic.

Hi, new here as well but if I had to venture a guess based on working on vehicles over the years I'd have to think it may be your heater core leaking. The smell of coolant and seeing smoke or maybe vapor makes me think heater core leak.
Others here can better tell you how to access the core but I think its behind the glove box.

Good luck.

Hey: Aloha from a former Kanehoe resident! In Jersey now...'bout as far from Kanehoe as you can *get*! And unless it fled the island, there is a '73 CJ-5 with my name in the owner lineage floating around the islands somewhere! Have a pro check your heater core, as stated above. Kinda time consuming to get to it yourself! At least have them diagnose it for you....then you might be able to fix it yourself.....
