New member here from the west side of Fort Worth, Texas. I just bought my second Jeep and thought I'd join up here. I had a CJ-5 back in 1993 but due to inexperience and lack of cash, I failed to fix some simple things on it that led to bigger problems I couldn't handle. I had to sell it but I definitely caught the bug from that old Jeep and have been driving old awful beaters ever since waiting for this day to come!
After a 4-5 month search on Autotrader and carsdotcom, I finally found a fair priced Chili Pepper Red 1998 TJ Sport. I couldn't have asked for a better situation too: the owner was a fighter pilot in training and had kept the Jeep and paperwork in good order. Being a 15 year old vehicle though, it's had several things that had to be replaced right out of the gates. So far, I've replaced the water pump, thermostat, radiator hoses, battery, alternator, and the mirror mounts so the doors can legally come off. It's been a labor of love though, because I like working on cars and Jeeps are just about the easiest thing to work on.
Anyway, that's probably enough of an introduction. Here's the new ride!
That last one was taken during my rust assessment/stereo installation project. I found some surface rust in the floorboards but have plans for bed liner in the spring!
