First Jeep was in 1999 (gun metal blue, bare bones 4cyl). Recently I bought a 2005 Wrangler X with 100,000 miles, hard top, 4.0 I6, Xenon flat flares, 31" BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A, and a small oil leak. $9900
I never worked on cars much, but thought I'd try a little with this Jeep. I replaced the stereo and all speakers, including the center console sub. I'm a sucker for some bluetooth music streaming. I then changed the serpentine belt, oil/filter, transmission fluid/filter, front/rear differential and transfer case fluid. I also replaced the side marker lights, which I ordered from Xenon only to find out the exact same light is sitting on the shelf at my local O'Reilly's. It was all pretty easy, but quite an accomplishment for me.
As are many others, I too am the victim of a rusty oil pan, so that is my next concern. I am trying to sort out trying myself, rust converting spray/paint, having a dealer do the work, finding a lift, or someone with experience.
