new member, seasoned jeep owner

Thought I'd say Hi.
just bought a 98 TJ Sport, this makes my 3rd jeep, 2nd TJ.

My first was a 93 YJ 4 cyl. (High School)
next came a 99 TJ Sport (Senior Year of HS, through College)
Now that I'm all grown up (right) and married, I figured why not.....so I got a nicely used (by a teenage girl) 98 TJ Sport.

I look forward to building my most recent jeep into a real expedition rig.

Welcome to this forum, and all things Jeep. Hope you enjoy your stay, and stick around and show us pictures of your rig, and your adventures. Just remember, "Growing older is inevitable, growing up, is optional."

Thanks, I will try to get some pictures up soon, but I'm notoriously lazy when it comes to doing things like that.

I will pick up the new rig later on this week, so I'll try to get some before pics then.

I might also weigh my wallet and to a before and after on that too.

Thanks Amerijeep, I think I will stick around.

BigJeep, Yeah, I feel like I did ok on the deal.
I ended up giving right at 6 for it.

Some more details:
4.0L
Manual Trans.
A/C blows COLD
Has a 3" body lift. This is coming off as soon as i get it home.
No carpet. This saves me the trouble of taking the carpet out to linex the tub.
Vinyl seats. Drivers seat is ripped, but I've got wet okle's on the way.
Cobra CB w/ 4' firestick II. Not a bad install actually.
Decent Alpine head unit (circa late 90's).
The soft top, grille, windshield are all new because she hit a deer.
31" all terrains with decent tread on some aluminum wheels (pics to follow)...these will be for sale soon
Center console is cracked. Should be easy to pull out. I've got the tuffy from my last TJ in the attic of the garage.
Other than that, I'll just have to remove the little rusty birdcage screens on the lights and turnsignals.

Picked up the jeep Saturday morning, crawled around under it till I found my mystery rattle (exhaust heat shield).

Next, I folded the top down and threw on the tonneau and wind jammer from my last TJ. I took the door uppers off and put them in the back. I couldn't put the bikini top on because I forgot to get the channel off my last jeep before I sold it.
I love the looks I get with that setup. Even Jeep people do a double take.

By 1:00 we were on the road headed to Augusta (about 160 miles).

She performed flawlessly. I even got to do a little urban wheeling on the way. There was a Dairy Queen just off this exit so I pulled in the parking lot, or so I thought. There was a guard rail and an embankment separating us from it. I couldnt see how to get to it on the road, so I drove down the hill, over a nice sized rock and off the ~2ft. retaining wall at the bottom. I drug the aftermarked hitch as i stepped off the wall. When I get my new bumper the receiver will be integrated.
My wife just rolled her eyes.
Once I was there, I could see the road to get out, but I opted for a different line and went back up the hill.
