Here's a couple images I posted before. I can help you with any questions, but I have to get ready for work now. I tried to get them posted to the sticky thread awhile back, but the powers chose not to. This is probably the most common question on Jeeps of all time. Let me know what you need.

I'm not sure. maybe Haynes or Chiltons. I've never had either. I can think of times I probably should have though. You might check them out.

The question is does everything seem to work ok? Does the 4 wheel drive function correctly? Also, do the vents work ok? Having an idea of what doesn't seem right will give us a clue where to start troubleshooting.

By the way, sorry to hear about the Carter carb. Does your Jeep suffer from vapor lock?

Hi amerijeep!
I got your illustration as well as one from Haynes, some what the same but for a line that runs from the Vac RSVR line to the Carb Solevac. Checking into a shop manual.
The 4x4 drive works,so those lines are hooked up correctly.
The choke doesnt shut closed enough or for long enough the start. You have to cover the port with your hand and not to pump too much gas up or it floods easily. Once started it has to rev high to keep running or it chuggs out.

That sounds typical of a Carter carb to me. I'm really not qualified to say without knowing more, but if it were me, I'd loose the Carter for a Holley. I've had bad luck with the Carters. Back in the day, they were standard Chrysler equipment for a few years.

Do you know which model Carter you have? Is it a two of four?
