New TJ in NC

What up Everyone, very happy to finally get a TJ, and cant wait to pick everyones brain on here.

I guess my first question would be I just bought a 2001 sahara and it has almost 150k miles on it, Im about to change out all the fluids and check the belts, but just wanted to get some advice on what else I should do or check out. Im actually even thinking of taking it somewhere and getting someone to just go through the whole thing and check it out. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advanced!!

Scott

Welcome to the forum from JoCo NC.

I do want to issue a heads up, know what you have when you go to the parts store depending on what fluids you change out you need to add in fluid modifiers to get them right.

Cool, maybe we can wheel together one day.
Example, I have to buy an additive from the dealer for my front and rear diffs.
You can call the dealer and give them your vin number and they should be able to tell you if if your diffs or tranny requires an additive or not.

blkrubi88 hit the nail on the head. The auto parts store has the same parts if you want to avoid the dealer. The limited slip diffs require 4oz of the friction modifier during the diff fluid change. Also the Haynes manual suggest running a dozen or so figure 8's after changing the fluid to make sure you get is circulated and mixed well. After that pull the top lugs again and make sure you don't need to add any more fluid. I live by the Haynes manuals, I like the internet but when you're covered in dirt and grease it's nice to have the book to flip through.

blkrubi88- I'm in Clayton too, we'll have to hit up Jones one afternoon and trade war stories.

Ahhhh gotcha, what is everyones thoughts on jiffy lube changing out the fluids? I have no problems doing an oil change, but dont want to change out diff fluids until I have someone help me to make sure I do everything right. Do you think jiffy lube would know about the additives?
