Question New to jeeps. greetings from el paso texas.

hi guys. just got a great deal on a tj wrangler. its a 2000 4.0l with some upgrades. i got a steal on it for $6,500. it has 3" body lift. bumper with 4 lights, side window light, rear gas can holder/rack. 32" tires and black rims. new shocks. armor guard kit. sound bar, etc. im new to jeeps. ive been into vws for a long time. im 22 though. my gti 20th anniversary has 355 hp to the wheels right now, so ofcourse a jeep feels relaly slow. i know they rnt for speed though. heres some things i would like to know.

-the jeep sometimes grinds to go into 2nd gear. and when i decelerate while in 2nd gear it sometimes pops out in between 2nd and neutral instead of slowing down.

-i hear a 3" body lift is way too much. i would like to put a suspension lift, like 4" or so and get 33" tires. which is a good trail and city suspension thats not over like $700 bucks?

-im trying to install a toggle switch on the dummy plates by the ashtray but i cant get them out to make some holes any advice?

-what can i do for a bit more power? i saw some superchip things that alter your engine for like $300 r those any good? intake? exhaust?

-is it expensive to re-gear the rack and pinion as to have more torque with bigger tires? or to save gas?

-anyone know where the cruise controll fuse is? mine isnt working (turning on)

0and lastly where can i find a cheap hardtop??

i have never offroaded. dont flame on me but how do i use the 4x4? i dont understand 4l 4h n etc? thanx

welcome to the forum... idk about a $700 4in lift for a TJ... rough country is a good cheap lift and that is $1400 double your stated price so yeah idk of any much cheaper but yeah dump the 3in body lift... cheap hard top your best bet is get a steal on craislist because usually they arent cheap... not a whole lot proven to get you more power but you can see what others say... and with 4wd... you can go from 2wd to 4H by just pulling down on the 4wd lever and you can be moving when you do it but you shouldnt be going over 45 when you do it... when using 4L you need to be stopped moving or moving at like 1 or 2 mph and have the manual shifter in neutral and then you move the 4wd shifter from 2wd into 4H then to N then into 4L... 4L is only for more power when stuck or when you are crawling and going like 10 mph... well that is pretty much what i know i have a YJ so im not good with some of the other stuff but im sure you can find help from others

Welcome to the forum. Intro threads are usually just to introduce yourself. Spend some time reading the TJ tech forum and you'll find lots of answers to your questions and then some. There's not a thing you've asked that hasn't been answered a hundred times already. Search works too, but honestly the best thing you can do for you and your new Jeep is scour the tech forum for all the info you ever wanted... Don't forget to wave!

Welcome to the forum ... the best thing to do is search the forum from the search function, find what you are looking for or something similar then if its not answered either ask in that thread or start a new post with your question after your sure it hasnt been answered to your satisfaction.
