New to Wrangler and New to this Forum

Hello everyone,

This is my first Jeep, owner a Jeep Liberty a few years ago, but this is my first Wrangler. I have wanted one for a long time but circumstances never seemed right. But now they are so I bought a 2013 JKU Commando Green and love it.

I have yet to take it off road but I can't wait. Need to add a winch and bigger wheels and tires before doing anything serious or on my own.

And a question before I go, I have seen some wranglers with what looks like stock wheels but they are black. They look like they have been painted or powder coated. Does anyone know if are stock? Or painted?

Hope to find some local wheelers in the TRIAD area to ride with and learn from.

Happy trails

Welcome, yes most of the stock rims/wheels are painted and some are powder coated. There are even special package that offered mineral gray wheels like the special edition Mojave. Most people do just paint them, it is a cheaper alternative to powder coat(an even cheaper alternative is plasti-dippin). There is also a myth that you can warp your wheels when you powder coat them, but I really doubt it the heat would be hot enough to warp the wheels. They are more expensive to get it powder coated and harder to repair if chipped. There are more answers if you just search the forum, good luck.
