Well im going to check this car out tomorrow or early next week.
Its got everything I was looking for and a little more.
I have a mp3cd changer and XM setup ive got to stealthily install somehow but ill work that out.
Seems like a good deal to me. Hate to go back as far as 2001 but the miles are good. Carfax says its had one 'moderate damage' wreck to the front which maybe why they put that big front bumper on.
Anything to look for with this in mind? Carfax says frame is ok.
Hard AND soft tops with this one, soundbar, 4.0 engine, manual. Looks like a winner, we will see soon! Ill let you know
Pop the hood and check the fender mounts to see if anything was replaced. If the frame is tweaked you should be able to spot it pretty easy. I see no problem with going "back to" 2001 for a Wrangler as they will last a looong time. Mine is a 97 with only 58k on it and I expect it to last well into 200K (if it remains the way it is for that long). The 4.0L is good, solid, strong motor that will LAST. Just be sure to look everything of and don't be afraid to nit-pick stuff.
Thanks for your help everyone. Ill definately be making this place my home. Its not hostile like most other sites and you put up with my noob questions that have been asked 1000 times before lol
Im not much of a mechanic, i dont really know what im looking for underneath a car. I figure id just look for leaky stuff, bent stuff, dented and scratched stuff. I dont know what that metal plug is posed to look like in the rear axel.
I cant imagine ill be lifting it really but you never know, im a addicted car modder now.
On the back side of the rear axle cover there is a fill plug. If its made of metal, it will have a 3/8" square in it for a ratchet to attach so that it can be removed. Really easy to see once you get under it.
well, that car was a piece of crap
Ive seen less scratches on an ice rink. Less dents in a tin roof after a hailstorm. Caked mud underneath, rusty as hell exhaust, big hole cut in the side for a CB antenna, gum on the seats. Shame.
This wasnt a regular car it was a work truck I guess, oh well back to Autotrader.
Smeghead, congrats man, i'm glad youre looking for the addiction As AzTJ said, go check it out. From the pics it looks good, seems like it has some red shocks on it (skyjacker bb?) and 32s w/ 16s sound about right.
trouble is I know nothing at all about suspension/shocks/springs etc only that this one seems have aftermarket stuff. Worries me a little how abused it will have been, but then its cheap.
This one seems nice because everything id want to do it is already done pretty much.
That is what me (SHE) was talking about . The tires should still be vertical.
Oh i'm sorry please accept my apologies. And yep, they should be vertical. With my understanding you cannot adjust the Camber on a solid axle vehicle with the control arms mounting from behind the axle instead of along the axle...
