New with questions.

First of all I'm new to the forum so forgive me on my ignorance in some places. I'm also a jeep owner finally after many years of dreaming about it. I ran across what I call a deal on a 97 wrangler se. I know the whole thing has been beat to death on here but I have noticed my 4 banger turns 2500 Rpms at 55 mph. It is a 3 spd auto and the tag says 3.73 gears but I can tell the diff has been open before. I was just wondering if this is normal or not? Drove a few jeeps of my buddy's but they was 4.0 5 spds so I'm not sure if this is right. By the way my jeep is not lifted and got 235/75/15 on it. Appreciate any input on this.

Welcome to the forum!!!! The YJ and TJ four bangers run graet above 2000 rpms and to run that rpm at 55 isn't tooo bad it is right in the middle of the power band. I have a 5 speed and shift at 3500 in 3rd and 4th rarely hit 5th running 4:10s on some 33 inch tires. So pretty normal they are not race cars but will get you there. Gas mileage is 15-17 on the highway less in town and even less on the trail.

Go over to the TJ page and post up you will get a lot of answers there. Happy wheelin and welcome!!!!
