Newb from SoCal

Hi, I've been lurking here for the past few days... I bought a 1990 YJ two weeks ago that needs some work and I'm already frustrated...

Seems I need some major engine repair, either a valve job or a rebuild... friends have told me to take it back, but I'd rather put the work into it and know that I have a decent motor than start again on another unknown. Besides, I already love it and it would be like taking a puppy back to the animal shelter. Does anyone know of a reliable mechanic in the Inland Empire? I can't stand not being able to drive it! I started sprucing up the interior, just to be doing something with it. Decided to paint the dash, and found that the torx bolts are stripped on the rollbar windshield mount on the driver's side. Checked forums here to see how to get them out, but it looks like a job for a guy, not a girl... I think I'm going to name my Jeep 'Pandora.'
