Newb here from Austin, Texas!

Hi. The name is Jess. I got my first Jeep (2013 JK X) last December.. Life. Changer. If it didn't get 14mpg, I would likely never have the thing in park

...I have done some camping so far, got a beach parking pass, and ventured out on a few "safer" trails while in TN...
So now I am in research-mode, looking to toughen up my front bumper (at least) to get into something with a bit more treachery. I look forward to meeting and making some local Jeeper friends here in the Austin/central Texas area. I definitely could use (and would appreciate) any tips and/or trail info, etc.! I know next to nothing about Jeeping here in Atx.
...Now who can show me just how to 'Jeep Austin Weird' ?

Hey Jess,

Welcome to the party and congratulations on your JK! Be sure to check out the Barricade Bumpers and shoot me a PM if there's anything I can help out with!

and congratulations!

We are just east of Austin. There are a lot of jeeps around here! Mike has a 2013 and I have a 2014.

Didn't your X come with the upgraded bumper? You want to change it because you don't like it, or you mean toughen it up with a winch, etc.?

We've only lived here for almost a year, but we've been wheeling at Barnwell Mountain over in Gilmer and at Canyons ORV park out in Fredericksburg. Hidden Falls is in Marble Falls, but we haven't tried it yet. Waiting for it to get cooler outside. There is also a place called Rusty's in Bastrop, but again we haven't been there yet.

We have wrenching parties whenever someone has something new they want to do to their jeeps. Our shop has AC which makes it SO much nicer than working in the driveway! Let me know if you're ever interested!

Thanks, all!! I am really into this family-vibe / camaraderie thing that y'all have going on..I think it's really cool. I'd never heard of any 'jeep club' until I got my first Jk.. Ok. Fair enough... but secret society, or no?
..leaving the dealership was the first I learned about this 'Jeep wave' .My old roomate was with me, a fellow Jeeper, who then also gave me the run-down on "all" things Jeep. For starts anyway. I'm looking to learn much, much more from the forum...

@starbrite : yes I'd def meet up with y'all sometime... to go out and explore or just nerd-out over jeeps. Wench party. Whatever I have zero jeep friends thus far.
I still haven't been to Fredericksburg and have yet to see much of the hill county. Shoot I haven't even been west of FM-2222 or Bee Caves here in Austin. (Moved from Nashville 3.5 years ago.)
A friend and I are trying get out to Enchanted Rock and do some camping in the near future. I heard that's a good spot as well. .. So, I am ready whenever you are!!
