I recently moved to LHC full time after owning a 2nd home here for many years. The first thing to go was a 12 year old Mercedes Convertible and knew I needed a Jeep as a daily driver that could provide open air motoring around town as well as being able enjoy the many, many miles of trails and off road activities in the area.
I managed to find a 2006 LJ Rubicon with everything I wanted.....pretty much stock and I brought it home last week. I'm going to begin personalizing her with a few little things right away and see if I can hook up with some other much more experienced folks and see what comes next........knowing me this will become an obsession
I had a chance to make my first off road trip this week with some pretty experienced Jeepers that I have riden with in my Yamaha Rhino a few times at our 2nd home about an hour from where we live.
Doing the trip in the Jeep which was about 60% Primative fire road 35% wash/sand/gravel and even 5% rock climbing which is likely very mild by the rest of your standards......but was a real thrill for me......surely got me thinking about adding some lift and bigger tires than the current 31's.....and oh yeah it was great having a heater with the 40 degree temps.
In any case I hope to learn and hopefully share something (not sure what just yet) back with the community here in the future.
Here's a couple pics of my rig.
