Newbie from the UK. . . Am I allowed here?

Hey there guys,

Thought I'd stick my head round the door and say hi.
I'm a Brit I'm afraid, sorry about that.
I've been toying with the idea of buying myself a Wrangler Sahara 4 door for quite a while, but because of circumstances it wasn't a viable option, however, circumstances have just changed.
We're having a terrible winter here in the UK at the moment and after a terrifying two and a half hour journey over twenty miles of black ice covered roads, I've decided it's a 4x4 for me. And of course there is only one real 4x4!

Ok, I don't know a lot about these beasts so please be patient with me if the questions and comments I come out with make me look like a bit of a plonker.

All the best,
Rob.

NO! Get your Wallace and Grommitt-loving ass the heck out of here. This site is only for people who think cheese comes in just one flavor: American. And who think that beer comes in small special cans with a logo that turns blue when it's almost frozen solid.

Sorry. Just kidding. I really don't know what came over me.

This is a great site for Wrangler info, obviously.

There's a site based in UK that I'd recommend as well: www.DIFFLOCK.com . Those guys are a little hardcore, but they can help you find "pay-n-play" parks and local mechanics.

Cheers!

Hey there Guys, thanks for the great welcome.

I've already pinpointed at least one nutter around here. . . Hello Geoff@Bestop, I think we'll get on great! Cracker and a Coors to go with your cheese my good man?

Hey there coyote_94yj, we had a solid week of downpours, it got up to eighteen inches deep up here in Morpeth. I don't mind the snow so much but the black ice was pretty horrific. . . Bring on the four wheel drive baby!

Again, thanks to all you blokes for taking the time to welcome little old me, I'm sure you'll be sick to death of me soon enough.

Dang. I would have loved to get 18 inches. The most we got was about 4-6 inches.

Montana newbie here,
I saw the news the other day, You all are getting the winter that we should have now.
The last snow we had was mid to late Dec. Must be that dreaded El Ninio.
Welcome to the group.
Good Hunting for your new 4X4-"Jolly Good Show" on finding this site, I'm glad I did.

Hey BillyB, if plonker was a profession I'd be a pro.

Hey there drfd74TJ, yes this winter has been a real doozy, thankfully it seems to have passed, fingers crossed.

Woa,was I off base. It must be all the old British TV programing that my wife & I enjoy so much.(BBC America on satellite.) We are a big fan of GB. We actually took a vac. trip there in "83" , a 3 week whirlwind road trip from Wales up to York, Edinburgh, over to Isle of Skye, down to Lake Country, Yorkshire Dales, back to Wales & end up in London just to name a few places, all that History Blew us away!! We Flew over to visit my wife's friend in Wales and they hooked us up with a rental (Ford Cortina wagon) I think and then there was the issue of R/H driving....well you get the picture. Wish we could do it again but we've got other fish to fry. Got to jump in our Jeepin rigs & go 4wheelin over by the crick for some mudboggin, slip slidin ,rock crawlin fun in the Rockies.lol
Luck on finding that Jeep.

Hey there drfd74TJ. Wow, that was one serious trip you took through our fine country.
To be honest thought I don't really see what the fuss is all about, this country's gone to the dogs! If it was possible I'd move out to Banff in the Canadian Rockies. Amazing place, my wife and I got married there and we're desperate to go back. . . Permanently.

Good choice,I've got roots in Canada. I was born in New York state, my dad came from Ontario & still have people all over in that country. We took a trip in 2000 up to Seattle to Vancouver to see my uncle, then went across to Banff for a look see, I can understand your want to do just that. A lot of folks in this country feel the same way. My trip to the UK was ok then, but your right to do it again now would be a downer, we don't even want to fly now with all the BS restrictions and cost involved.
For now, our next destination to add to our list.... permanently!!
Ouray, Colorado
