Noob from Central Kentucky

Looks like I found a very good forum for Jeep. I have been reading through it for the past few hours and the amount of information is massive.

I am just starting the process of shopping for a 1997-2003 era model and have very little history with them. My previous Jeep experience is from 1976 and driving a shiny new CJ7 on a motocross track. It worked but doesn't translate well to buying information.

I come from another auto forum where I have been a second tier mod for a few years and piled up 25K posts so having sub100 posts is a new experience [and a good one].

I look forward to playing with you folks.

Bear

Welcome. I would try to get a 2000 or newer with a dana 44 rear. Or depending on your budget consider the rubicon version.

Good to see Kentuckians on the board, though with Jeeps, I am not surprised. This is good.

Anyone know of dealers that specialize in TJs, or at least have a few from which to choose?

Welcome from Lexington!

There are several TJs in Lex that I know of for sale off the top of my head. There are two at the small dealer on West Main, one modded and one not. Also Freedom has a TJ that they just listed. They recently had at least one more. Most I believe may be a bit newer than you were looking for, but you may want to check them out.

I saw the two on Main. The little red one is RHD. The modded one is lifted more than I want at this time.

I have also found one in Nicholasville but can't get anyone to answer the phone.

So far, this has been the extent of my recent off roading...

Well, the search was shorter than I thought. I spread a 200 mile net and found a bunch of different toys but two kept poking their head up, and both in state.

Considering mamabear and I will be traveling with a bunch of cameras and tripods we sprung for an 04 TJ Unlimited, one owner that looks brand new. It has sub90K highway miles and has not been offroad [???Who Knew?]. Had a long discussion with the original owner who had to trade it because her work required a 3-4 person car.

Pics in a few days, after it gets shed of its car lot cooties.

Thanks to all for the advice, both on threads, PMs and the awesome number of threads on this board. One night I started reading at 10pm and realized at 4am that I might think about hitting the sack.
