Ok, so I was so focused on joining here to ask my questions that I totally forgot this part.
I'm not new to Jeeping but never really got onto forums about it before this. I own an '87 YJ that I think is like a 'tween between the end of CJ's and before Chrysler bought AMC, or something, because there are some oddities that don't match what I see described in a lot of places as a true YJ (the most glaring difference just being in the VIN). I also used to drive my dad's '99 TJ, which is what got me hooked on Jeeps in the first place.
My YJ is currently dormant - I'm waiting on a friend to help me fix the floor pan (under the driver's seat is almost entirely rotted out and the seat belt is no longer fastened to the floor - it dangles through...) and also, stupid me, I took it offroading after that and hit a rather large rut at a high rate of speed and somehow managed to put a nice gash into the oil pan and crack a rod end-cap. But I assure you, I'll get it fixed and be Jeeping again sometime this summer. (Driving a crappy '95 ranger that I was forced to buy while working on the jeep)
If you're curious about the state of my jeep, you can see some older pictures of it while running and of the damage here: http://picasaweb.google.com/ctclark1/Vehicles
