Pittsburgh Newbie

Hi all! My name is Jo and I am a zookeeper from the Pittsburgh area. Also, I am new to the Jeep and Mopar world. I just recently sold my 2002 Ford F350 Powerstroke due to rusting problems, and bought a Jeep.

I deeply miss my truck, but am having a blast with my Jeep. I bought a 2003 Jeep Wrangler Sahara about three weeks ago.

Here is "Rex" the day I bought him:

Three weeks in and this morning I put on smoked marker and tail lights and blacked out Jeep emblems:

I also got a soft top for him as well, except summer doesn't seem to have ever actually came to the Pittsburgh area this year and it's been fall weather for the past few weeks, so I am probably just going to wait until next spring to put the soft top on.

I got some big plans for Rex too. I am thinking of finishing out my blacked out look with black weeks. Probably will go with a 2" lift, some more rugged tires, bolt on style fender flares, tube style bumpers, and here's the kicker.. I want to get Jurassic Park tour Jeep style vinyls and make Rex my own version of the JP tour Jeep. I also want to put on some exhaust.

Right now I am thinking Flow Master 40 series, but was told today that it's pointless to put exhaust on a I6 cause it just makes them sounds like coffee cans.. I don't know about this. I am a big fan of a good throaty sound, what do you all think?

Well that's my rant for now. Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome everyone that I missed yesterday! Welcome to having a jeep or welcome to
Being a forum member!!!! If you are new to jeeping I've been asking lots of questions because I am too!!!!! I'm not afraid to ask questions and everyone here is more than happy to help ! I'm amazed at how many people are willing to help!

What I've learned in 4 days of owning a jeep.....

Dipping is cool, and I most likely will dip my icky stock silver junky rims.

About one in every 6 wrangler drivers wave when I drive but when my friend who is a male drives my jeep everyone waved at him. ( I am determined to turn my jeep into an offload goddess that even men say wow to....then maybe I will get waves :-)

Jeep people are there for each other and go above and beyond to help. I'm ordering a custom windshield vinyl and the person on eBay of all places is mailing me samples to match the vinyl to my exact color.... eBay! I am blown away! Who on eBay does that??!!??!!

The straps in my glove box are to roll the back window.... There is suppose to be Velcro to attach when I use the sunrider top... And someone in the forum recently wrecked their top because they didn't use the Velcro. ( I need to buy Velcro.)
In a Jeep world we are all brothers and sisters!

Welcome Jo, from York.

I spotted this JP YJ at the PA Jeeps show in York a few weeks back, thought you might get a kick out of it...

You should make the trip to York next July for the show. Over 600 Jeeps in the show field, many more on the grounds as spectators (daily gate about 5000 people!)

Info at PA Jeeps Club Website
