Real Sickie!

I have a 1984 CJ, a 1989 YJ, and a 2005 Liberty, all used regularly off road.
Daughter has a 1999 TJ.

I just installed the Howell EFI package in my 1989 YJ, and am having a problem getting it smogged. 2 Different Smog Check stations say that I'm too rich. Howell says that the only way that that can happen is a bad spark module or timing. I replaced the spark module and checked the timing for 8-degrees btdc, and it still failed!

Any ideas? ( Oh, yeah. The Jeep runs better than new, better fuel mileage, better power curve, yadda yadda!

Just won't pass CA Smog!

Welcome! Might want to post your question in the YJ tech section for a quicker response!

Lean it out to the point of passage and once the sticker is on tune it. Or you could just move to a civilized state. lol

The problem is that it is too lean, and the computer controls this. There's no adjustment to fatten it up
