Safe Jeep

Looking for the model that is the safest for my daughter to take to college... she really wants a jeep. Moving her from a 92 Landcruiser that needs to stay home with me...

Well I hate to say it but a wrangler may not be the "safest" vehicle in the world. :P

Welcome to the Forum...if she is determined to have a Jeep......may want to look for one with a hard top...less chance of being thrown out...with a 4cyl less potential of speeding....and remove the back seat...only one passenger than less distractions.

I say those things kinda in jest as I feel Wranglers are one of the safest vehicles on the road...being that they are built on a full frame like a truck.

But ultimately it comes down to how responsible your daughter is. any vehicle can be safe. If you are comfortable with her having a Jeep.....and are looking for used....I would probably look for a TJ 97-06 with the I6 that is as close to stock. Expect to pay $10K-$18K for a good one this time of year....(hardtop really not needed)

GOOD LUCK!!

First, HA! This daughter (the one sitting on the jeep)

Shares the jeep with her older sisiter (standing on the bumper). Younger daughter was in front of me this morning on the way to town. I was running 65 down a 55mph road and couldn't keep up with her. The jeep is a 4-banger manual. It runs like a scalded dog! This daughter also go a lecture once we got to town and she realized I was behind her

That said, to the OP, we bought oldest daughter this jeep for her 16th birthday present. BEST decision we made on a first vehicle. She has been hit (low speed) and it only broke one plastic end cap off the bumper. I have seen jeeps rolled and have a lot more comfort in knowing how well the cage holds up compared to car tops. And, it's a LOT of fun in the summer AND if you get one with 5 on the floor, a girl instantly gets bragging rights over SO MANY guys who have no clue how to drive one Oh yeah, this is a '90 with a little over 120,000 and we have had NO engine issues. We take care of it and the girls are learning to wrench on their own also. GOOD life skills included in each jeep purchase, bonus! OH and 2 years ago, we paid $3500 for it, double bonus!

Yes, it is. Zebra stripe duct tape no less. I've got to help them fix their top as it pulled out of the header and we haven't had time yet, so we pulled out the "color match" tape, LOL! Thanks.

As I mentioned said in jest...imagine if it was an I6 and 3.21's!!
