Two weeks ago today I got a call at work from my wife who was looking for treasure at an estate sale. "You should come look at this darling little Jeep" was the jist of what she said. I begged 2 hours from my co-workers and off I went. The "darling little Jeep" turned out to be a dark blue TJ Sport with 6 little cylinders all in a line, behind which sat a 5spd gear box, topped off by a canvas top, and hardly anything else. It had attracted the attention of a few potential buyers, but my wife had not moved from behind the wheel since she had called me. Long story shortened, I took it for a test drive and bought it before the other guys had a chance to sit in it.
I've been a Toyota guy since the late 80's, so this is all new to me. I wanted to say THANKS to the members of this forum . I keep it running in the background at work (I sit behind a desk with 3 monitors and about 13 programs running all day)and peruse it between phone calls and the daily brushfires I have to put out on the job. While I don't give enough attention to it at work to make any posts, I have had a lot of questions answered just by reading your questions and and the answers to them. I hope to contribute to the knowlege pool as I start tearing into the "darling little Jeep". By the way, my 17 year old son is a co-owner with me, we plan to leave it bone stock for the moment until he decides what he wants to do with it, and how badly he wants to do it. I provided most of the initial capital required, and will likely provide most of the wrench knowlege at least for a while. He will be providing the upgrade capital, so it will be a slow process.
Thanks again, Lyle
