Thinking about a Jeep Wrangler

Hello from Colroado!

I'm a newbie to this forum, but not a newbie to off-roading or technology.

In the past I've had various Ford's - trucks and Broncos - but this time around I'm thinking about a Jeep Wrangler. I like the idea of being able to take the hardtop off, with the Jeep it looks much simpler than doing the same on a Ford Bronco!!

Years ago, I had a 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 truck. Unfortunately I had several problems with the automatic transmission, replaced it 3 times, each time with about 75K miles on it.

So I'm not sure if I want to go with a manual transmission or an automatic. I'm leaning towards the Unlimited model, as I like the extra towing capacity and cargo space. Any thoughts/experiences from the community here would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Roger

The autos are really good in the Tj. The JK needs an external cooler for its auto bit that's only 50 dollars and simple to do.

Welcome to the Forum
If you're used to full-size SUV's and pickups, I would definitely recommend the Unlimited. I went from a regular cab tacoma to my TJ sport, and was very surprised at how much room I lost-even with the rear seat out. But, I do love my Jeep

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Yesterday (Saturday) I went out and drove both the Wrangler Rubicon and the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I like the manoverablity of the Wrangler, but I think the additional space in the Unlimited will suit my needs better. I also like the feeling of the manual transmission better than the automatic.

Now the most important part, chooing the color!

Don't do it!! You will waste all your money on mods, waste your sunny days driving with the top down, and waste all other times dreaming what you could do to it and wishing you were driving it!! Ignorance is bliss! .
Welcome, and good luck on your purchase! Check out tread lightly to get a pretty big discount on a new wrangler, and there are some dealers on the forum that are straight shooters and will help you out. Pat@fieldsjeep just helped me a bunch and set me up for a heck of a deal on a new rubi.
