Lightbulb Thinking of buying a Jeep Wrangler

Any Advice - I just sold my 4x4 land rover and I'm now looking to step into a wrangler. I'm looking to spend between 6-8k on a nice used rig. Any sugestions and what issues should I look for. It seems like 1998-2003 models will fit my price range.

Do the 4cyl ones get much better MPG than the 6cyl.
Should I stay away from any particular models?

Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the Forum

The 2.5 is not going to make enough of a difference in mpg to justify the lack of power.
I would suggest the 4.0.

Welcome, I've heard on here that gas mpg, is not that different. 4cyl vs. 6cyl just power, & years, all a preference. Others will chime in too...good luck and enjoy.

Welcome! 4 vs 6 cylinder probably won't net you much difference in gas mileage (especially if you modify it) but you will notice in in your butt. To me, I wish I would have gotten a 4L as I constantly am at odds with my 2.5L over things like highway speed.

Welcome. I would get the 4.0 for sure. The added power is well worth it.

Yes the 4.0 is a much better motor! The mileage doesnt differ much and with the I6 the trans is much better especially if modding!! Welcome and good luck!
