Question Tire Question 33"

Hi really enjoying this wranagler forum, great reading. I just bought a 05 Wrangler Unlimited and am having a Fabtec 4" lift put on it, I am going to keep the stock alloy wheels and put 33x12.5 15" duratracs on them. Question is am I going to have a rubbing problem with the width? all replies appreciated.

not if you change to the wheels so the backspacing is less. My stock 04 TJ had 5.5" of backspacing. My new wheels (15x8 cragar soft 8's from summit racing) have 4" of backspacing. this should be enough to cancel the rubbing.

Also, the width of your stock wheels is probably 7" you might want to think about an 8" wide wheel at least, maybe even a 10" depending on your preference.

I have personally ran into rubbing issues with 15X7 Factory wheels running 31's but I changed to aftermarket 15X8 and 33's the only time I rub now is backing up with the wheels turned all the way to the left. I am afraid for you that the factory backspacing might cause issue rubbing on extreme turns but for normal driving no.

Yep stock wheels have too much back spacing. I have 3.74" back spacing myself.

Stock ravines are 8" wide, you need 1.5" spacers to fit 12.5" tires.

Duratracs are great tires, lots of us run them. Search will yield a ton of info about them.

I like my duratracs so far. I haven't been offroading with them yet but on road they've handled great, nice ride, and are relatively quiet with a nice low hum. They're relatively cheap compared to M/T tires yet still have the aggressive look. You can get a good deal through Discount Tire.
