Question Tires and gears

Allright everyone, bare with me I'm new to this. I just bought a 2006 Wrangler X 6 spd. It has a Skyjacker lift (4-6" I'm guessing) and 35" tires. My question is this: I have read that with bigger tires you need to also change your gears in order to retain the full power of the engine? It seems that I'm always downshifting just to get up a hill and I KNOW the 4.0 ltr is way stronger than that. I drive mainly on the highway and city roads but like to take it off-roading on the weekends. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Welcome to the forum!

I would guess 4.56 or 4.88 gears. Hit the search button up top, or post up the the TJ section. You should get lots of helpful responses there. But, please, do a search first
One day, you will be just a memory for some people. Do your best to be the good one.
