TJ Noob...

howdy to all y'all... I am going to be getting a 98 TJ Sahara this week... back in the 80's I had a CJ7 Renegade and it rusted out on a deer lease back home in Texas... in the mid 90's I got a XJ-Cherokee and ended up trading it in on a mini van... arrrrgh! Then I bought a F-140 supercab long box... great truck but killed me on gas 80Mile round trip to work n back... so I picked up another XJ - well 4 months ago I threw a rod - punched a hole in the pan and a 6" hole in the block... bought another motor to do a swap and got hurt at work so I have some temporary limited movement in my arm... after much frustration and bitching I decided to part out the beast and buy really what I have longed for all these years since I left my buddy on that deer lease...

I found a 98 Jeep TJ Sahara... decent shape - superficial rust on fender and soft/hard top in awesome shape... an all round decent looking ride - just needs some rubber...
the price is ok and I am pretty stoked... the wife is ok with it - she drives a 98 XJ Limited - Jeep family here. She just wants the new one in and the old one out.

I have been a member of NAXJA for some time and hope that this forum and members are just as awesome... from what I've seen so far it looks very good.

I am a displaced Texan living in the great white north of Canada... I miss home but love the open space of Alberta... you can drive for hours without seeing another sole... beautiful country - but no Tex-Mex food
So in a nut shell I will be busting somebody's brain cells on here with tech help - novice wrencher here...

Thanks - and y'all keep the rubber side down...

Welcome!

Welcome, "displaced Texan", to the best Jeep Wrangler Forum in the hemisphere. Thanks for posting the pic. Looks really good. Have spent a lot of summers in the Lake Huron and Georgian Bay area of Ontario and experienced many cool summer mornings. But, where you're at, I hear you'll get lots of 80-90+ degree heat pretty soon. Of course that's about 30-35 centigrade if I do my conversion correctly. Understand gasoline is still over $4 per four liters up there. Ouch! Again, welcome!
