Wannabe Jeep Owner in Ohio...

Have been a guest for a while as I did research on these American icons. Will be buying a used jeep in the near future (before winter) and thought the experienced members of this forum could enlighten me...

Am looking for a Wrangler for my winter vehicle. Primary use will be around town driving but also looking to install a snowplow to handle my 300+' winding, uphill driveway (don't intend to do commercial plowing). Like the Wrangle for it's short wheelbase and manerverability! Which brings me to my hopes for enlightenment (sorry if I ask alot!)...

1. I6 or V6? Which is the more reliable engine? Both are similar with regards to h.p. and tourque (v6 a little stonger). Any particular year to look for or avoid?

2. Auto or Manual? I lean towards an automatic as don't have enough hands to steer, shift and manage a plow controller. Any comments?

3. Plow suggestions (make, model, size)?

4. Suspension mods needed/recommended?

Thanks for putting up with questions!

Well I'm sure the 4.0 will be the "most liked" engine....
Never had one myself.... Everyone says they are better all around....
Auto seems to be your preference so I would go with it especially with a plow......
Plow .... Not sure YET I'm in the market for one myself....
Suspension will be fine for light plowing assuming you drop the plow before driving around town....
Plows cause a lot of wear and can damage the frame of the jeep.... its up in the air whether you would want to put one on your daily driver...

Now an OFFICIAL Jeep Owner!

Just picked up an '06 Wrangler Unlimited! Got lucky and found one with a Western Suburbanite (light weight) plow included (see pic). Primary use will be a winter driver and to keep my, and a few neighbors, drives clear.

Had it inspected before purchase and everything looks solid and well maintained! Focused on frame, suspension and engine and did not find anything of concern. Compression test showed all cylinders between 169 - 177 psi. Anyone know what "spec" is for the 4.0L I6?

Would appreciate any thoughts/advice on:
- Problem areas to watch out for
- Critical/Important maintenace to keep up on (I'm a DIY kind of guy)
- Anything else I should know based upon your experiences!

Let it SNOW!
