Wrangler tj sport upgrade or modify

Hi guys

I run a 2004 tj wrangler stock but with bf Goodrich Tyres

Whilst I love it, there are places I've been in my other trucks fj40 range and disco, these have all been stock

So I am considering upgrading the truck or modifying.

I hear the jk is underpowered else I'd look at getting the rubicon, although I hear the 2012 has a better engine

I could put lockers and a disconnect on my current or take a loan and get a jk or wait and get the 2012 model

I use the jeep as a dd and also go camping least once a month in summer sometimes on long trips

Off road use is sand and forest mainly no rock crawling

I'm also not so keen on a lift as I need to park in multistory car parks

So what thoughts people

I've wheeled with JK guys, they seem to do just fine.
Lifted Jeeps fit inside parking decks, I'm running a 4" lift with 33's and mine fits, just have to remove my CB antenna.

I can only please one person a day and today is not your day and tomorrow is not looking good either!

As far as the differences between the Jeep models, I guess it's like the old saying: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog" (the driver in this case). All the models have their advantages and disadvantages.

That being said . . .

So are you saying your TJ won't go places your previous vehicles would? I can't imagine sand and forest trails that your TJ can't handle.

Anyway a stock JK isn't going to go many places your TJ won't unless you are talking a Rubicon. Guess it boils down to which style you like. If you like the TJ you can certainly modify with axle upgrades, gears, lockers, tires etc... That's what I would do and would be a lot cheaper than upgrading to JK Rubicon. I wouldn't consider a non-Rubicon JK an upgrade in terms of off road capability.

Also you will get a lot more response to questions in the other sections such as TJ, JK or General. This section is mostly for introductions.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
