| Wrangler X or Wrangler Saraha?
I am currently an unowner of a Jeep. I am the owner BMW motorcycle. I Had a semi serious go down on the bike an am currently recuperating. I may or may not give up the bike. I thought of purchasing a convertable thinking of how nice the openess of it would be. Then I thought of a pickup truck for the ability to haul things in the bed of the truck. I had discovered the Jeep Wrangler 4 door and it looks like a viable solution to both inclinations. After searching several dealers it looks like they are all on just about the same page price wise and are
offering no "deals".
That aside I do have a couple questions. First of all I do want the 4 door as it has the additional space in the back and it looks like I mite be able to carry 2X4's and such for building projects around the house. Next I want to be able to pull a trailer maby for a couple motorcycles or a pop up camper/travel trailer and I understand the 4 door has a 3500# towing capacity. Is there anyone that has towed a small travel trailer?
Next is there any reason to upgrade from the Wrangler X to the Saraha? I would get the towing package and at least the 17in wheels and maby the automatic tranny but not sure on that. Is the extra money worhtwhile for the Saraha or is that a sorta personal judgement question?
I have been to the mountains in Colorado and have rented Jeeps for Jeeping in the mountains and it looks like the Wrangler X or the Saraha would do well on up to a mild class 4 road and that is just fine for me.
Any and all input will be most appreciated.
Thank you.

I don't know much about the new jeeps, but I think the Sahara would be worth it to me.

| Welcome! Welcome to the forum, Battleb! As to towing a small travel trailer, I have an '04 TJ Unlimited and purchased a small travel trailer (not a pop-up tenet camper) a year ago. I have been pulling it for a year. My engine and auto tranny pull it just fine and the '07 has a few more horses than mine. My trailer "dry" weighs about 2,000 lbs and has a GVWR of 3,200. I live in the Appalachian Mountains of western Maryland and have really tested pulling my trailer. The only thing is making sure to turn off the tranny overdrive when you tow and drop down to second when pulling uphill. The guys on this site recommended keeping it at 3,500 rpms while in second pulling uphill and I've done that and it has worked well. Hope this helps. Any questions, send a reply. Again, welcome!

Thank you for your help. I have purchased a Wrangler Sahara with the tow package, 18" wheels, auto tranny, soft top, and some other "stuff". Will the auto tranny need some TLC to tow the rated 3500# and how in the heck do ya get the top down. The dealer didnt have anyone that was familiar with getting the top down. Also is there a "boot" avaliabe to cover the top when its in the down position?

Thanks AzTJ. The salesman at the dealership was completly dismanteling everything (removing the knobs on the top of the plastic as well as all the plastic around the doors) and it looked like a nightmare. The website really clairifies things.

| Reply Hey, Battleb, I sent a detailed reply to your inquiry but the system didn't save it in my sent folder so I have no way to know if you received it. Please let me know if you did not receive it and I'll send you a "reconstructed" version if I can remember it all!
