I just bought my first Jeep, a 2010 Wrangler, nearly two weeks ago. Our old farm truck is a tinkering truck, and was proving unreliable for daily transport. So, I went looking for a new car.
I spent every evening for a week test-driving cars... Hyundai, Chevy, Dodge... I was looking for a manual transmission, something fun to drive, reasonably fuel efficient, and enough power to get me through our gravel road in the dead of winter.
I had an offer in on a Hyundai Elantra hatchback, but they weren't too keen on the price I wanted. While I waited for them to stew on it, I kept on looking. Coincidentally, somebody mentioned a Jeep. I thought about it, and realized it met all of my criteria, except, I'd never driven one before.
I started looking around, doing research, and went out and looked at a few Jeeps. The first time I drove one, it took a lot of willpower to not grin like a loon in front of the salesman. Within a day, I made an offer, dependent on what my mechanic said about it.
My husband suggested I call back the Hyundai place and let them know I was about to buy a Jeep, and see if they would be more interested in my offer now. I stood there for a second, and told him that I didn't think I'd make that deal now, even if they did take my offer. He grinned at me and said then I knew I'd just chosen the right purchase. (He loves Jeeps, and was already all-in on me wanting one.)
Well, everything went great, and now I'm cruising around in my new Wrangler! I'm having a great time with it, and I'm having a lot of fun reading all the posts here, too.
