Hey everyone!!! I'm new to this site but not for owing a jeep. Turned 16 and my father Got me my first jeep. Hooked since. I have ownEd 4 jeeps so far. 1988 which I own now , a 1991 and a 1990 and a 2000 grand Cherokee .
I am currently working on my 1988 jeep. I got it for $1500 and it was in storage and never winter driven. The good jeep frames are hard to come by where I live. We have very cold winters and tons of snow. Had it for a week and the damn b10/5 got stuck in neutral 10 min from home. Started looking on net to find info one the subject. Got well educated and was feeling confident.
So went to my local auto wreckers to c what I could find. Long story short I found a 2000 jeep tj sport. Reading on the net that it is suppost to have the ax15 but it could be nv3500. So basically I picked up the whole underneath for $800. Pulled out the old tranny and tore it apart. Guess what happened?............spring and ball fell out. The spring and ball give your rods that clicky sound and feel when your shifting. Any way swapped vaccume plug and speedo over the new one. Switched clutch and went for it. Wow wait diffrent piot bearing so the shaft was bigger the usuall. Now back to the net to figure what to do. Found out I might have a nv3500 or a ax15.
Now I have to call advanced adapters to get the pilot bearing and maybe a bushing.fun fun
More to come till then over and out.
