Help us rename 4x4trailgear and win $100

We got a Cease and Desist Notice from a company called trail-gear. I guess our name is a bit too close, total mistake on our part we just added the word "gear" to 4x4trail "talk" for the store name because we also own a forum with trail maps called 4x4trailtalk.com. Never even heard of them before to be honest. A quick google search provides quite a few companies with " trail gear" in their name but I digress.

They are probably right, but are not being nice, we have to do this all in 10 days. We have to dump the Company LLC name (real PITA because we have it registered with Colorado and the Feds), give them our domain, change our forum names, facebook page and a bunch of stuff or they are gonna sue us and we have no money to fight, so have zero choice.

So what says WF, what's a good name for a store selling not just 4x4 parts but that is also owned by people running trails and selling more than just 4x4 gear, like camping stuff and knives etc.?

Winner (may not be from this forum) gets $100 to spend in the new store.

We have figured out the new name, thanks for the input everyone.

It sucks, we had zero intent to hop on anyones name...it went along with the small forum that Alec and I have. The worst part is, that we just took delivery of 1000 decals to start sending out to people.

Keep your name screw Trail-Gear. That company really pushes my buttons. They are a toyota mini truck outfitter and they started their shop by leaving and stealing a few things from Marlin Crawler. Also a lot of the parts they build use Chinese metals and out sorced manufactures.

I have to agree with the others above - fight back.

The chances are pretty good that they are counting on you running scared from their bluff.
When you Google "trail gear" you get a gazillion businesses with that in their names. Yours is not any different other than the fact that they view you as a threat in sales.

I HATE it when people think they can bully others around like this.

Protecting Your Business Name - Entrepreneur.com

Check to see if they have it registered or copyrighted. If not, do it yourself.
Because yours starts with 4x4 it is completely different. I think you have good ground to stand on until someone in the legal field tells you that you don't.
Is it remotely possible that you were using it before they were?

Fight back, spit in their eye and don't go down without drawing blood first.

Have you consulted an attorney at all?
Was the letter you received from an attorney?

Man, public forums are NOT the place to discuss stuff like this.

Yes, we have a jeeper friend who is lawyer that will be calling the firm that sent the notice.

It's okay tho, live and learn I guess. We are just looking for some name ideas.

I would agree with the others in that you should fight back if you can afford it, if not I like 4Jeepn's idea of OffTheGrid4x4.
