Will this also work on a 2012 JK 2-dr?

Just installed this today. I gotta say it is pretty slick. Makes it MUCH easier to lower and raise the top. Iím 5í-7Ē and not particularly strong so handling the top by myself was always a pain (standing on a curb helped when one was nearby). I donít remove the rear window...I just roll it up into the elastic effectively that makes my top heavier and exacerbates the problem. But now with the new spring assist all is SOOOOO much smoother. When lowering the top the spring keeps it from falling down violently so thatís nice. Then when raising the top it takes very little effort and I can do it standing on terra firma. I LOVE IT!!!

Now for one possibly huge thing to consider when deciding if you want one of these: once the kit is installed, you basically cannot easily remove the soft top (obviously you could remove it, but not with the quick disconnect would need tools, lots of time, and end up with a bunch of parts to keep handy somewhere). Now if you only have a soft top and you never remove it, then this is not an issue. If you are like me and you switch to the hardtop in the winter, itís still not a huge deal, it just complicates that swap-out process (twice a year I can live with that for the convenience that the spring assist offers throughout the summer).

But often in the summer I completely remove the soft top (note: I have the BestTop version with the four quick disconnect fittings). Sometimes I remove the soft top to get it out of the way to make it easier to haul something. Sometimes, like when the doors are off, I just like to go completely topless. So I guess I wonít do that anymore.

Question: is the OEM stock spring assist the same design as this one, that is, does it also make soft top removal impractical?

Installation was easy. Would have been easier if the directions were better. They donít mention that there are two different M8 bolt lengths and it does make a difference (use the shorter ones to mount the spring modules to the body). Also they donít mention what to do with two adhesive backed rubber strips that I didnít see until I was going to pitch the shipping box. Looks like they go between the spring moduleís flange and the body. Too late now!

Anyway, overall I really like the product and am pleased with the purchase. For the price I think itís an excellent value.

Thanks for the review. This is something I have been considering though I probably won't worry about it until the spring as I'm like you and use the hard top in the winter. I'm glad to hear that it works as advertised and I appreciate the comments about the added challenge of fully removing the soft top.

Out of interest are there any more comments on this. It's starting to get to soft top season and I am wondering if it's worthy getting. Yogimon was a P-I-T-A to take off for the winter and to put back on this spring?
