Woot woot! Took the doors of for the hell of it, even though we hit 110 again today, and put on the mirrors! AWESOME product. Got up to 80-85 on the interstate, and although there was a bit of very minimal shake, the mirrors kept in place like champs no movement at all. Really happy with um!

Great work - nice simple mirrors

Are you still taking orders and how far out are you to ship? Interested in a black powdercoat set for a 2012 JKU.

I think I've found my doors-off mirrors now. I like these a lot.

Does the hardware at the door hinge come black if you order them like that? Has anyone requested that yet? And I think it'd look cool to throw another black cap nut on the exposed thread of the long screw on the back of the mirror.

I can powder coat any metal part. The reason I don't normally coat the lower mounting hardware is that to get the mirrors tight on the hinge, you would normally use a wrench to snug them down. The powder coat finish would become scuffed up over time. But I can still coat them if desired. As far as adding an end cap to the back on the mirror thread stud... Never thought about it! Let me look and see if I can find an acorn nut that small.

Actually, I just asked him to start me a set with the lower hardware PCed (powder coated) also. Didn't think about the back of the mirror acorn nut though.

As far as the coating wearing off, I told him I'd risk it. I'll be the guinea pig for coated attach hardware. I think if you use a good clean 6 side socket on it, the PC will hold up fine.

Can you include mirror backside acorn nuts on the set you are building for me? (Coated black of course)
Wish I'd have thought of it, sounds like it will look great.

If I can find them in that size. The thread for that mirror clamp is pretty small! I'll do some shopping today after i get off work to verify wether it's possible or not. I'm already assuming I won't find an acorn nut with a deep enough well to hold the mirror on tight. If I find one in that size, it will more than likely have to go on on top of the existing nut. It will still look good assuming I can find them in that size.

I agree about finding an acorn nut that that deep. I don't think I've ever seen one like that. I thought it would at least give the mirrors that nice, clean "finished" look with another nut cover the end of that thread. Is that threaded rod built into the mirror? A shorter threaded rod would be the only way to tighten the mirror down using an acorn nut. But that's not important to me.

A picture helps. For those unaware what I'm talking about...one more black acorn nut on this rod end would look good IMO.

x2!
No need to mod the threaded rod coming out the mirror, just cover it with an acorn.

Yep the thread and ball joint is one piece built into the mirror. But I'll see what I can find ;-)

Well, conducted an experiment...... Not so sure about it. Without finding a deeper well nut..... Well.... You see. I can slap these on the end if desired. But IMO the search for a suitable end cap is far from over. (these are the only size I've found that fit so far.) Thoughts?

Hmm..well, admittedly that's not what I was thinking it'd look like.

If only that mirror mounted thread was about 1/4" shorter the cap nut would sit nicely against the hex nut. :/

Perhaps if that hex nut and thread were black it would look better. Or, maybe throw another hex nut on and at least the acorn nut would then butt up against that second hex nut. There would at least be no thread visible after that. I don't know why I'm hung up on this exposed thread.

Also look into blind rivet nuts, also called closed end rivet nuts. That may work too.

Let me bust out the cutting wheel tonight some time. Maybe I could shave off some of the thread stem then attach the acorn nut.
