Poison Spyder Dana 44 Bombshells Are BACK!!

More specifically, NEW and IMPROVED Dana 44 Bombshells are back! They're thicker, stronger, better looking. Check out the website page for all the info on them. These can be bought directly from us or from any of our Authorized Poison Spyder dealers (you might actually beat some of them to this info LOL)

Its been a long process, so we've held back on talking much about them until they were actually here, on the shelf and ready to ship. And that is indeed the case! The only delay is for powder coat, so if you want yours coated allow an extra week as we JUST got these in and are sending a batch over to coating as we speak. WOOHOO!!! Bombshells are BACK!!

Here are a few photos of them bare. We'll be getting some coated and mounted up soon, so we'll have some installed photos to post up shortly. Thanks everyone for your patience with these!

IMPORTANT FITMENT INFORMATION FOR OWNERS OF JK RUBICONS WITH STOCK TRACK BARS:

We have been hearing from several owners of stock JK Rubicons that their stock front track bar is contacting the Dana 44 Bombshell at full suspension compression. The stock track bar has a tight U-shaped bend in it, which just clears the stock diff cover at full suspension compression. We designed the Bombshell using Chrysler's 3D CAD models of the JK, and it was a close fit there but everything looked like it was going to clear. The weird thing is it seems to just miss the track bar on some stock JK's, but hits on some. We've learned over the years that often there can be variances in some dimensions from Jeep to Jeep, and that may be the case here. At any rate, the bottom line is that we can NOT recommend the Dana 44 Bombshell for the front of JK Rubicons with the stock track bar.

Most aftermarket suspension systems for the JK include a replacement track bar that does not have that funky U-bend, and therefore do not have this potential problem. Note that the problem is not remedied specifically by a certain amount of lift. A "Budget Boost" or leveling kit won't alleviate it, since the stock track bar is still there and the upper travel limit has not changed. A bumpstop spacer might help but we have not tried that in the shop. So for now our recommendation is to only install it on JK Rubicons with an aftermarket suspension system with an aftermarket track bar.

We haven't heard any feedback on this issue yet here on this board, however if you have experienced it and would like to speak with our sales department about a return/refund or some other remedy, please give us a call at 951-849-5911. Likewise, if you have already purchased the D44 Bombshell but have not installed it yet, and wish to return it due to this new information, please give us a call and we will make those arrangements. We apologize for any frustration this may have caused for any of you who have already installed this item and experienced this issue.

LawMoose, there are a whole bunch of different equipment combinations we simply have not had a chance to try yet. I'm not specifically familiar with the Currie track bar so if it has some feature or dimension that makes it usually incompatible with other heavy duty diff covers, it might be a good idea to wait until we can confirm it for you. Or if you have a critical measurement you need it to be so it can clear, let me know and I can take a measurement for you.

That's a nice paint job. Love it and your products.
Speaking of which- are you offering powder coating on your Rocker Knockers yet? I like the construction and method of installation but shipping them bare metal leaves you guys off the hook for final finish. (No offense). And puts the responsibililty of finding a reliable powder coater in the customer's lap. I checked your website but still looks like bare metal only.....
Thanks!

You're right, it does leave us "off the hook" for the final finish, and that's precisely why we don't offer those powder coated. Its very difficult to put a fragile finish on a 70 lb unwieldly-shaped part, pack it in a cardboard box then ship it across the country without any chance of damage to the finish. The few times we've tried it, its bitten us in the but because then there is a potential warranty claim for any small scratch or scuff to the finish, and its very expensive to ship these very heavy parts back and forth just to service a warranty claim for a small amount of shipping damage to the finish. Yes, shipping damage is the responsibility of the recipient to file a claim with the shipper, but try telling that to a customer who just spent all that money with us. So yeah, in the end it disappoints some people that we don't offer powder coating, but ultimately everyone's a lot happier without the problems it can create. At some point we may invest in CAD-designed foam blocking and packaging for some of those items in order to be more confident in offering them powder coated, but for now its just not economically feasible.

2xs, sorry I didn't see this earlier. Anyhow I can't give you a price or shipping quote until these are available. The D30 ones (which you quoted a photo of) won't be available for a month or two still.

Just buy one from Riddler, they are practically the same cover minus the spider.

BTW, PSC.

Are those re-engraved riddler covers?

Cause they look exactly the same down to the material, bolt holes and sloped faces.

Our old ones were made in the same foundry as the Riddlers, these are not. These are our own design made at a different foundry. They are thicker than Riddlers (hence the fitment issue with the stock sway bar on JK's).

BTW, you do realize this is our own (Poison Spyder's) thread, in the vendor section? Its kind of poor etiquette to recommend a directly competing product right inside a sponsoring vendor's own thread in the vendor section.

Good to know, was always curious about that. I'm sure I am not the only one who was curious.

Etiquette..

Didn't pay much attention on the mobile app. Go ahead and delete it, just letting him know his choices..

He was referencing their rocker knockers I believe.

I was gonna say...70lbs for a diff cover? Is it made from adamantium or something?

Yeah he was talking about Rocker Knockers and asking why we don't ship them powder coated (it was all right there in the quoted text). D44 Bombshells weigh about 13 lbs.

8.8 Bombshells are not in our plans currently. That doesn't mean we won't consider it at some point.
