Poison Spyder JK Evap Skid!

Own the Number 1 Selling Evap Skid for the JK!

The plastic evaporative canister located under the Jeep JK's floorboard is an important part of the Jeep's emissions and engine management system. Unfortunately, Jeep placed this unit in a vulnerable spot where it can be damaged or torn off by rocks and other trail obstacles. Poison Spyder's JK Evap Skid solves this issue by protecting the canister with a rugged skid plate.

The Poison Spyder JK Evap Skid is CNC laser cut and brake-formed from 3/16" plate steel. It completely envelopes the evap canister to protect it from the bottom, front, sides and rear. The front surface of the skid is slanted like a ramp to help slide the Jeep up and over any obstacles that might reach up that far into the Jeep's undercarriage. And of course the skid features the familiar laser cut Spyder symbol.

The unique installation method involves removing the stock mounting bracket and securing the canister into the skid using the provided components and hardware. This provides the added benefit of lifting the canister enough to gain an extra 3/4" of ground clearance—including the thickness of the skid itself! The JK Evap Skid comes powder coated satin black, and comes in a complete kit with hardware and install instructions.

There are several products on the market that deal with the evap canister's vulnerability in different ways. Kits that relocate the canister may result in engine codes that are difficult to diagnose, or may even void your factory warranty. Other skid plate products may protect the bottom of the canister but leave the sides and front vulnerable. Only the Poison Spyder JK Evap Skid keeps the canister in its factory location, with original electrical and vapor connections intact, while fully protecting it from all sides.

This is why you need the Poison Spyder JK Evap Skid!

For those who think the Evap is too far up in there to need protection, this happened on a fairly mild trail, John Bull in Big Bear. A new Poison Spyder Evap Skid is on order for this young lady, as well as a rather expensive factory replacement canister.

For just $100 protect yours with the toughest, best looking, best selling Evap Skid on the market!

It's the week between Christmas and New Year's and the Spyder Crew is still hard at work! Here's another batch of Evap Skids coming together...

FYI we have confirmed here in the shop that the Evap Skid does NOT fit on 2012 2-doors without modifications to the exhaust system. Fits 2012 4-doors just fine, as well as all 2011 and older.

Jake Holmes sent us these photos of his Poison Spyder JK Evap Skid installed alongside the MBRP "Off-road" exhaust kit on his 4-door. We thought these might be helpful for anyone with that exhaust kit and considering our skid and wondering about compatibility. It fits great!

PSC Evap Skid and MBRP Off Road on a 2-Door

Has anyone done this evap skid on a 2-door with the MBRP off road exhaust? Pics? Problems? Solutions?

Drexelpike I wish I had some specific information about that product combination, but unfortunately I don't. Is there something specific about the MBRP kit that would make it likely to interfere with the evap skid?

Well did the install today. The side tab was severely in the way. Had to cut off the tab attached to the skid itself and bend the top strap straight and bolt it into the side of the skid directly. This gave me the clearance needed for the muffler. After all said and done I have about 1/2 inch between the bolt and the muffler.

If there is a way to reverse that so the strap goes to the opposite side that would be a much easier install.

Glad you got it worked out! Maybe MBRP should revise their product to work better with ours LOL...just kidding. Honestly we may be doing a revision to these at some point, in order to fit the 12+ 2-doors, which would likely solve this problem too, as the clearance issue with those is in the same place.

Howdy DTS! I'm loving all the pretty metal pictures! I'm looking to pick up one of these. Can you comment on its compatibility with the 2013 4-door? I have a '13 JKUR and I thought I read about some interference issue when someone tried installing a PSC Evap Skid on their rig.

The compatibility issue you heard about was on the 12+ 2-doors. With a 4-door you should be good.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up.

It may have been an isolated incident that was the result of an accompanying mod that conflicted with the evap skid.

Hey guys we recently re-designed the Poison Spyder Evap Skid. Its now even easier to install, with separate installation kits (both are included) for either 2007-2011 or 2012+ applications. And yes, it now fits 2012+ 2-doors too!

Check it out HERE or get it from any of our Authorized Poison Spyder Dealers!

I can't guarantee anything but it looks pretty good from here. Unless your new muffler is wider than the stock one, you'll be OK.
